About the role
The Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Geography at Nipissing University seeks a dynamic scholar for a 10‑month Limited Term Appointment as an Assistant Professor in Biology, starting August 1, 2026. The role focuses on delivering high‑impact undergraduate education and contributing to the department’s research and service missions.
Key responsibilities
- Teach six undergraduate courses per year, covering subjects such as molecular & cell biology, vertebrate zoology, biostatistics, animal physiology, evolution, animal behaviour, developmental & behavioural genetics, and health psychology.
- Develop and continuously improve course materials, laboratory exercises, and assessments to enhance student learning.
- Engage in departmental service, curriculum development, and student advising.
Required profile
- Completed PhD in Biology or a closely related discipline (candidates ABD will be considered).
- Demonstrated effectiveness in undergraduate teaching.
- Research success or potential in Biology; expertise in molecular neurobiology is an asset.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of molecular and cell biology concepts.
- Understanding of vertebrate zoology, biostatistics, animal physiology, evolution, animal behaviour, and genetics.

- Salary prorated from the full‑time range $87,720–$134,200 CAD per year.
