About the role
The Department of Chemical Engineering at McGill University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to lead research and teaching in bioprocessing, sustainability, and energy. The successful candidate will join a historic department of 16 professors and contribute to McGill’s international reputation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an independent research program in process intensification or bioprocess engineering.
- Secure competitive research funding and publish in high‑impact journals.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical engineering.
- Supervise graduate students and post‑doctoral researchers.
- Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (or closely related field); undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Demonstrated record of outstanding research achievements and potential.
- Excellent written and oral English communication; French language skills are an asset.
- Eligibility to register with a Canadian professional engineering association within five years of appointment.
Required skills
- Process intensification (catalysis, thermodynamics, advanced separations, integrated design).
- Scaling and modularization of chemical processes, electrification, plasma technology.
- Bioprocess engineering (bioreactor design, scale‑up/down, downstream processing).
- Process analytical technology, process control, omics‑based process optimization.
- Continuous biomanufacturing and biomaterial fabrication.
