About the role
The Division of Social Medicine at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a full‑time, grant‑tenure‑track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will hold the Diamond Family Professorship in Addiction Medicine and Recovery and will be based at Providence Health Care within the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU).
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead an internationally recognized research program in addiction medicine, with a focus on clinical research.
- Secure external research funding and manage grant‑related activities.
- Teach undergraduate, graduate and professional learners in medicine and related health disciplines.
- Provide clinical mentorship and supervision to trainees and junior faculty.
- Collaborate with BCCSU’s three core functions—research, education, and clinical care guidance—to translate evidence into practice.
Required profile
- Board‑certified or equivalent specialist in addiction medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to design, conduct, and publish high‑impact clinical research.
- Experience in obtaining competitive research grants.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and equity‑focused scholarship.
