Assistant Manager – Municipal Services

About the role

The Assistant Manager, Municipal Services provides strategic and operational leadership for a portfolio of municipal facilities and services on UBC's South Campus. The role ensures safe, efficient and reliable delivery of infrastructure maintenance, materials management, waste operations and logistical support for academic and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate municipal operations across multiple sites, including the nursery, warehouse, Material Recovery Facility and composting operations.
• Maintain continuity of service by managing resources, resolving disruptions and applying risk‑based operational strategies.
• Contribute to operational and capital planning, aligning service delivery with institutional priorities.
• Oversee stewardship of assets, infrastructure and financial resources.
• Manage operational teams, contractors and service providers through workforce planning, performance management and safety culture development.
• Collaborate with the University Neighbourhood Association to deliver shared services under the UBC Neighbours Agreement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities or municipal services management.
