Assistant Editor

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Editor to join our Toronto editorial team. This entry‑level, full‑time position supports the publication of scientific research across a range of journals. You will receive on‑the‑job training and work closely with Managing Editors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the peer‑review workflow for submitted manuscripts, including reviewer invitations and editorial decisions.
• Coordinate email communication among authors, reviewers, and production staff.
• Ensure manuscripts are edited, formatted, and published on schedule while maintaining high quality standards.
• Collaborate with the editorial and production teams to resolve any issues that arise during the publishing process.
• Maintain accurate records of manuscript status and editorial actions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., environmental science, materials science, engineering, physics, chemistry, biology, health sciences).
• Demonstrated experience publishing in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Strong organizational, time‑management and communication abilities.
• Team‑player attitude and ability to work in a dynamic, international environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
