Arena Operator – Ice Facility

About the role

Planet Ice is seeking a mechanically‑inclined professional with a passion for hockey to join our team as an Arena Operator. You will be responsible for maintaining the ice‑making equipment, refrigeration plant, and overall facility operations while enjoying the opportunity to drive the Zamboni.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service the refrigeration plant and related mechanical systems.
• Operate and maintain the Zamboni and other ice‑surface equipment.
• Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs throughout the arena.
• Ensure the facility complies with safety and operational standards.
• Work varying shifts, including graveyard shifts with differential pay.

Required profile

• Possession of an Ice Facility Operator (IFO) or Refrigeration Operator (RO) certification, or a 4th/5th class Power Engineer licence.
• Mechanical aptitude and a proven ability to fix equipment.
• Experience working in a hockey arena or similar facility is preferred.
• Reliability, self‑sufficiency, and a strong work ethic.
