Architect – Design‑Build Projects in Canadian Arctic

About the role

Join a leading Design‑Build firm operating across the Canadian Territories to lead architectural projects from concept through construction. You will work closely with an in‑house construction team to deliver innovative, culturally‑sensitive solutions for healthcare, commercial, industrial and residential projects in remote northern environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project phases – schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
• Coordinate consultants and act as primary liaison with clients and approving authorities.
• Lead the Design‑Build team in solving technical challenges unique to arctic and sub‑arctic conditions.
• Ensure compliance with the Canadian National Building Code and local jurisdictional requirements.
• Oversee quality control, review and seal drawing packages, and conduct site inspections at critical milestones.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Architecture (M.Arch or B.Arch) from an accredited institution.
• Strong project‑management experience in design‑build environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate status to senior leadership.
• Passion for delivering high‑quality design in remote, challenging locations.

Required skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of building science principles.
• Proficiency in interpreting and applying the Canadian National Building Code.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and sealing construction drawings.
• Ability to coordinate consultants and manage client relationships.
