Architect – Business Development & Design Lead

About the role

Our client, a respected architecture and design practice in Western Canada, is seeking an entrepreneurial Architect to drive business development and lead project delivery. This senior position offers a clear path toward leadership and potential partnership for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to generate new project opportunities.
• Maintain and grow relationships with developers, builders, and private‑sector clients.
• Leverage an established network of industry contacts to secure new work.
• Lead client presentations, fee proposals, negotiations, and contract discussions.
• Manage projects from concept design through construction administration.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to architectural and technical staff.
• Collaborate with ownership on strategic growth initiatives and market expansion.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and represent the firm within the industry.
• Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to long‑term practice growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in the Alberta market.
• Registered with the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA) or eligible for registration.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Experience on multifamily, mixed‑use, and commercial projects.
• Proven business development and networking capabilities with existing relationships to developers and builders.
• Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills.
