About the role
The Aquatic Specialist at CFMWS delivers high‑quality leisure programs and ensures the safety of Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and their families in aquatic environments. Working in community pools or beach facilities, you will combine lifeguarding duties with swim instruction to support the well‑being of military families.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise pool users, enforce safety rules and intervene to prevent accidents.
- Deliver swimming lessons for children, seniors and other groups, adapting activities to each audience.
- Design and lead aquatic programs that promote fitness, social interaction and confidence in the water.
- Maintain a safe and clean pool environment, performing routine checks and reporting hazards.
- Collaborate with CFMWS recreation teams to align aquatic services with broader wellness initiatives.
Required profile
- Dynamic, independent and motivated individual with a passion for community service.
- Ability to work with diverse military families and adapt to varying schedules.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
Required skills
- Lifeguard certification.
- Swim instructor certification.
- Current First Aid and CPR training.
