Application Engineering Specialist

About the role

This position sits at the crossroads of engineering design, customer engagement, and energy‑efficient system innovation within the HVAC and hydronic sector. Based in Canada, you will work closely with sales, consulting engineers, and contractors to deliver optimized technical solutions for commercial and institutional projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review HVAC drawings, mechanical specifications, and system layouts to develop optimized hydronic solutions.
• Interpret control schematics, P&ID diagrams, and plumbing designs for accurate system integration.
• Recommend improvements such as variable flow, decoupled systems, and primary‑secondary configurations.
• Support energy‑efficiency goals through pump optimization, delta‑T management, and control‑strategy analysis.
• Prepare technical documentation, proposals, and system configurations aligned with customer requirements.
• Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and design reviews alongside sales and engineering teams.
• Translate field requirements into actionable engineering solutions and technical recommendations.
• Collaborate on custom applications, product selection, and technical validation.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical systems design or manufacturing, focused on HVAC and hydronic systems.
• Experience in a technical customer‑facing role such as application engineering, field service, or technical sales support.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Mechanical engineering knowledge applied to HVAC and hydronic systems.
• Interpretation of mechanical drawings, control schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
• Understanding of district energy systems, central plants, pumps, heat exchangers, and control loops.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE‑based energy strategies, delta‑T optimization, and reset strategies.
• Proficiency with engineering selection tools and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with CRM or quoting systems (asset).
