Advisor, Government Affairs

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Regulatory & Government Affairs, the Advisor, Government Affairs will support EVR’s provincial and federal government relations and advocacy initiatives. The role is ideal for a professional with deep knowledge of British Columbia’s mining sector and a talent for influencing policy.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor provincial and federal policy developments for potential impacts or opportunities to EVR’s business.
• Prepare briefing notes, backgrounders, position statements, and other policy‑related content for senior‑leader meetings.
• Coordinate government submissions and information requests.
• Collaborate with Communications, Indigenous Relations, Projects, Environmental Performance, and Marketing teams to assess policy changes.
• Oversee lobbyist reporting requirements at both provincial and federal levels.
• Represent EVR on industry and government committees as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of direct experience in the B.C. provincial government or in a government‑relations role for a B.C. mining company.
• Bachelor’s degree in political science or an equivalent field.
• Strong understanding of policy development and the legislative process.
• Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data to inform advocacy strategies.
