Accountant – Housebuilding Division (Calgary)

About the role

Anthem is seeking a high‑performing accountant to support its Housebuilding division in Calgary. You will own the financial stewardship of multiple community projects, turning data into clear, actionable insights for fast‑moving construction initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of housebuilding communities.
• Deliver monthly variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) with actionable recommendations.
• Prepare month‑end and quarter/year‑end financial reporting packages, including statements and management schedules.
• Support forecasting, annual budgeting, and cash‑flow pro‑formas in collaboration with project teams.
• Analyze job‑level costs, identify trends, and flag risks early.
• Assist with year‑end audit/review processes and provide ad‑hoc analysis for the Accounting Manager/Director.
• Partner with operations, finance, and corporate teams to fulfill information requests and improve processes.

Required profile

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in project, real‑estate, or housebuilding environments.
• CPA designation (or near completion) and strong attention to detail.
• Highly organized, able to multitask in a fast‑paced setting.
• Independent, proactive mindset with strong communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel
• Experience with NewStar, InformXL, Power BI, or Yardi (asset)
• CPA (or in progress)
