About the role
The University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry seeks an academic Movement Disorders Neurologist for a contingent tenured or tenure‑track appointment. The position is based on the North Campus in Edmonton and offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Key responsibilities
- Provide outpatient, inpatient and on‑call clinical care for patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
- Participate in the provincial Parkinson’s & Movement Disorders program serving Albertans across multiple corridors and the Northwest Territories.
- Diagnose and manage acute neurologic conditions presenting at the University of Alberta Hospital.
- Contribute to the Division’s educational programs spanning medical students to fellowship trainees.
- Engage in research activities within a division that holds multiple CIHR, NIH and other external grants.
Required profile
- Medical degree with board certification in Neurology.
- Demonstrated expertise in movement disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease.
- Experience in academic medicine and a record of scholarly activity.
- Eligibility for a tenured or tenure‑track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
Required skills
- Clinical expertise in movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease management.
- Inpatient neurology care and on‑call responsibilities.
- Teaching and mentorship of medical trainees.
- Research competence in neurology.
