Workshop Facilitator

About the role

The Workshop Facilitator ensures a safe, healthy, and orderly environment for students working in the open areas of the Macdonald Engineering workshops and project laboratory. The role focuses on enforcing safety policies, monitoring workshop usage, and maintaining cleanliness during assigned off‑hours.

Key responsibilities

• Control access to the workshop general work area and log attendance of users.
• Enforce health and safety regulations, verify training credentials, and ensure proper use of safety equipment.
• Identify, correct, and report unsafe practices to the workshop manager or security personnel.
• Maintain cleanliness of the workshop before, during, and after operations.
• Prepare and submit required records and reports.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in a workshop or machining environment.
• Strong interest in health and safety and ability to communicate safety rules clearly in English.
• Graduate‑level engineering student or relevant training considered an asset.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.

Required skills

• First Aid certification.
• WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training.
