Wastewater Collections Locator – Temporary Full‑Time

About the role

The City of Belleville is seeking a motivated and strategic individual to join the Environmental Services Department as a Wastewater Collections Locator on a temporary full‑time basis. You will operate a Level 3 wastewater collection system, provide locate and leak‑detection services, and support on‑call emergency response.

Key responsibilities

• Locate, mark, and document underground municipal infrastructure in compliance with regulations and industry standards.
• Perform leak detection and sanitary I&I detection services.
• Maintain and repair storm‑ and wastewater collection system components, including sewer cleaning, rodding, inspections, and wet‑well maintenance.
• Operate and monitor pumping stations and related equipment.
• Investigate customer concerns, collect samples, and communicate findings to supervisors.
• Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule, responding to emergencies within 30 minutes.
• Verify GIS data accuracy and update infrastructure mapping records.
• Support health‑ and safety audits and ensure a clean, safe work environment.

• Strong communication skills for interaction with contractors, property owners, and the public.
• Willingness to work on‑call rotations and respond to emergencies 24/7.

• Rodding, lateral inspection, and maintenance‑hole procedures.
• Operation of pumping stations and related equipment.

• Use of rodding machines, generators, and pumps safely.
