Volunteer Communications & Recruitment Specialist

About the role

CityKidz is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Communications, Recruitment & Retention Specialist to join its Volunteer Development team in Hamilton. The full‑time position will drive volunteer attraction, training, engagement and recognition, helping the organization deliver inspirational experiences to children in low‑income communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual volunteer recruitment strategies and outreach campaigns.
• Create communication materials, newsletters and digital content to promote volunteer opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with churches, schools, businesses and community groups.
• Design and deliver orientation sessions, training workshops and ongoing learning experiences for volunteers.
• Match volunteers with suitable roles, support them during Saturday programs and foster long‑term engagement.
• Coordinate volunteer recognition events and track recruitment, retention and engagement metrics.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in communications, marketing, community development or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of experience in volunteer recruitment, community engagement or volunteer coordination.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and a faith‑based environment.
• Valid G‑class driver’s licence with reliable transportation.
