US Tax Manager

About the role

The US Tax Manager will lead the preparation and review of a wide range of United States tax filings for corporate, partnership, and individual clients. This senior position requires deep technical knowledge of US tax law, strong client‑facing abilities, and the capacity to guide junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual tax returns (Forms 1040 and 1040‑NR).
• Prepare and review corporate tax returns (Forms 1120 and 1120‑F) and partnership returns (Form 1065).
• Manage US international tax reporting, including PFIC (Form 8621), Subpart F, GILTI, and foreign reporting forms (5471, 5472, FinCEN 114).
• Handle US trust reporting (Forms 3520 and 3520‑A) and, when required, estate and gift tax filings.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members and oversee client relationships.
• Stay current on Canadian tax legislation when relevant to cross‑border clients.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, CPA, or EA designation is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive US tax experience in a public accounting firm, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with professional US tax preparation software.
• Experience with GoSystem (asset).
• In‑depth knowledge of US tax forms and international reporting requirements.
