Tunnelling Machine Operator – Heavy Equipment

About the role

Erritt Construction Ltd is seeking a skilled tunnelling machine operator to work on outdoor construction sites, including heavy water and atomic energy plant projects. The role involves operating a range of heavy equipment and ensuring safe, efficient tunnelling operations.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to plan and execute tunnelling sequences.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as backhoe excavators, loaders, bulldozers, concrete spreaders, concrete pumps, rollers and front‑end loaders.
• Conduct pre‑operational equipment checks, complete logs, and prepare accident reports.
• Perform minor repairs and operate hydraulic pumping systems.
• Measure distance, volume, length and weight, and follow MSDS guidelines.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in excavation, land clearing or tunnelling.
• Physically demanding work with attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel; travel expenses covered.
• Flexible availability for early morning, evening, night or overtime shifts.
