Truck Mechanic – Civil Construction

About the role

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting trucks, trailers, and support vehicles used in civil construction. This role ensures safe and efficient operation of the fleet by diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting field operations to minimize equipment downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, and support vehicles.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems promptly.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and document all work performed.
• Assist with field repairs or service calls to reduce equipment downtime.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure all work meets regulatory and manufacturer standards.
• Maintain organized work areas, manage tools and inventory, and notify the Shop Manager of parts needs.
• Communicate repair status, timelines, and equipment readiness to the Operations team.

Required profile

• Red Seal Truck and Transport Technician certification (preferred) or Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Red Seal Technician, preferably in civil construction.
• Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and repair manuals.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and commitment to safe work practices.
• Proficient in written and verbal English.
