Tenure‑Track Engineering Professor – Impact+ Canada Emerging Leaders

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering at Université de Sherbrooke seeks a tenure‑track professor to join the Impact+ Canada Emerging Leaders Program. The position focuses on developing passive and low‑carbon solutions for retrofitted and new buildings at both building and urban scales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research on energy‑efficient HVAC systems and adaptive approaches that interact with utility grids and district heating loops.
• Build and supervise multidisciplinary research teams addressing climate resilience and the Arctic strategic priority.
• Collaborate with public and private partners to translate discoveries into marketable products and services.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in building engineering, robotics, and related fields.
• Secure external funding and contribute to the university’s research excellence.

Required profile

• Early‑career researcher currently residing outside Canada as of 5 July 2026.
• Demonstrated ability to advance transformative projects aligned with Canada’s strategic priorities.
• Experience in building‑scale or urban‑scale energy research, preferably in HVAC or low‑carbon solutions.
• Strong interest in multidisciplinary environments and international research collaborations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of passive design principles and low‑carbon building technologies.
• Understanding of HVAC system design and energy system integration.
• Experience with research partnership development across public and private sectors.
