Tenure-track Faculty Position in Pesticides and Emerging Contaminants

About the role

Université Laval seeks a tenure‑track faculty member to lead research and teaching on pesticides, emerging contaminants and their impacts on soils, the environment and agri‑food systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses on pesticides, emerging contaminants, soil chemistry and pest management.
• Establish an independent research program investigating the behavior, transport, and ecological and health impacts of pesticides and emerging contaminants in soils and agroecosystems.
• Supervise graduate students, co‑supervise theses, and mentor undergraduate students.
• Contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices that reduce pesticide use and contaminant dispersion.
• Participate in departmental, university, and professional activities, including research promotion and service.

Required profile

• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in soil science, environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, agronomy or a closely related discipline.
• Eligibility to join the Ordre des agronomes du Québec within the first year of appointment.
• Proficiency in French (spoken and written) or a commitment to achieve it within three years.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in the relevant field.
• Post‑doctoral experience or significant academic/industrial research experience is an asset.

Required skills

• Expertise in the fate, transformation, transport and ecotoxicology of pesticides and emerging contaminants.
• Knowledge of soil chemistry and agroecosystem processes.
• Ability to design and conduct experimental and modelling studies.
• Experience in supervising graduate research.
