Temporary School Social Worker

About the role

The Halton District School Board is seeking a Temporary School Social Worker to join its clinical services team for the 2026‑2027 school year. This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports student wellbeing across schools in Burlington, Halton Hills, Oakville and Milton.

Key responsibilities

• Provide short‑term individual and group counselling for students.
• Offer problem‑solving and consultation services to teachers, families and community partners.
• Deliver case management and connect families with local resources.
• Participate in the Safe and Inclusive Schools Team, H.O.P.E.S team and the Welcome Centre.
• Apply bullying prevention, restorative practices and conflict‑resolution strategies.

Required profile

• Relevant social work qualification and registration.
• Experience working with children, youth or families in an educational setting.
• Commitment to cultural responsiveness, anti‑racism and anti‑oppressive practice.
• Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Individual and group counselling techniques.
• Case management and referral coordination.
• Knowledge of restorative practices and conflict resolution.
• Understanding of community resources and support services.
