Temporary Residence Worker (Overnight Shift)

About the role

BGC Okanagan is seeking Residence Workers for its Emergency Youth Shelter in the Downtown Youth Centre. In this temporary overnight‑shift role you will ensure youth have their physical, emotional, social, educational, housing and medical needs met while helping them develop essential life‑skills.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in case management and care planning, conducting assessments and assisting with Personal Service Plans.
• Provide life‑skills training such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care and financial management.
• Transport and support residents to appointments, shopping and leisure activities.
• Promote safety, respond to emergencies and manage aggressive behaviours, reporting incidents as required.
• Administer or monitor client medications and, when trained, provide Naloxone in emergencies.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, case notes and incident reports.

Required profile

• Certificate in a related human or social services field.
• At least one year of recent, relevant experience.
• Successful completion of a criminal record check and agency screening.
• Ability to work overnight shifts in a shelter environment.
