Technical Program Manager, AI Delivery for Public Sector & Defence

About the role

Cohere is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead AI delivery for Canadian public sector and defence customers. You will act as the bridge between cutting‑edge AI models and government requirements, ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end technical program delivery for public sector and defence clients, from deployment to production scaling.
• Translate complex government requirements (security, compliance, accessibility, bilingualism, data sovereignty) into actionable engineering plans.
• Navigate procurement processes, RFP responses, and contractual technical obligations.
• Provide strategic communication and status updates to senior government officials and departmental executives.
• Coordinate technical work across multiple internal teams and establish governance checkpoints for high‑stakes deployments.

Required profile

• 6+ years as a customer‑facing Technical or Engineering Program Manager in AI/ML, technology transformation, or enterprise software delivery.
• Experience working with government, defence, or heavily regulated customers.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or technical certifications a plus.

Required skills

• LLMs and related AI models (RAG, fine‑tuning, evaluation, responsible AI).
• Enterprise software deployment architectures (cloud, on‑premises, hybrid, air‑gapped).
• API integrations, model inference, data pipelines, and ML operations.
• Experience with Azure, AWS GovCloud or GC Cloud services.
• Understanding of security clearance processes, Algorithmic Impact Assessments, and AI ethics frameworks.
