Technical Designer – Engineering Design

About the role

As a Technical Designer at ABB, you will create and modify equipment, system and installation designs for the Electrification, Installation Products division. Working from our Terrebonne site, you will translate specifications into detailed drawings and calculations, ensuring designs meet safety, cybersecurity and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions, producing drawings and calculations according to specifications.
• Participate in design reviews and verification, updating designs as needed.
• Support preparation of design deliverables to meet contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, manufacturing, testing and commissioning teams to ensure designs are built, tested and installed correctly.
• Maintain accurate Bill of Materials and update engineering documents as‑built.
• Assist in technical risk assessments and implement mitigation actions.
• Report process or tool inefficiencies and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in equipment or system design.
• Familiarity with design standards, safety and quality requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
