Team Lead – Registered Nurse (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Team Lead – Registered Nurse provides leadership for the Medicine/Surgical unit, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care. Working closely with the unit Manager, the Lead coordinates patient flow, supports staff, and upholds the organization’s vision, mission, and values.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily team huddles, discuss unit initiatives, performance data and engage guests.
• Coordinate patient flow, adapt staffing levels and skill mix to meet safe care standards.
• Participate in risk‑management investigations, report findings and help develop preventive interventions.
• Act as Control Person during emergency codes, providing clinical expertise.
• Maintain compliance with unit and hospital initiatives such as bedside shift reporting and hand‑hygiene protocols.
• Mentor and model best practices for novice and experienced nurses.
• Collect and analyse statistical data required by the program.
• Support process‑improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to clinical standards and policies.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario (CNO).
• Demonstrated leadership or team‑lead experience in a Med‑Surg environment.
• Strong understanding of patient flow, staffing, and delegation principles.
• Ability to respond effectively to emergency codes and risk‑management situations.
• Commitment to fostering a collaborative, safe and evidence‑based care environment.
