Team Lead, Payroll Services and Analytics

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its Payroll Services and Analytics team. This senior position oversees Leave of Absence, Tuition Waiver, Payroll Accounting Adjustments, and Payroll Reconciliation, driving service excellence and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the LOA, Tuition Waiver, PAA, and Payroll Reconciliation functions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and collective‑agreement regulations.
• Partner with the payroll business analyst to design and implement process improvements.
• Manage projects such as LOA audit automation, pre‑authorized debit integration, mass data loads, and RPA bot development.
• Optimize the use of Workday and other ERP tools for payroll and analytics tasks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in payroll operations within a large organization.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and collective agreements.
• Proven project‑management and change‑leadership abilities.
• Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
