Teaching Assistant – Parasitology (MIMM 413) – Winter 2027

About the role

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology seeks five teaching assistants to support the Parasitology course (MIMM 413) during the Winter 2027 term. You will work closely with course coordinators and technicians to ensure smooth laboratory operations and student learning.

Key responsibilities

• Meet weekly with course coordinators and technicians to discuss lab set‑up and protocols.
• Prepare laboratory spaces before student arrival and store equipment after sessions.
• Supervise students during weekly lab sessions, answer questions, and ensure safe use of equipment.
• Demonstrate parasite specimens under microscopes and guide interpretation of results.
• Correct lab reports and communicate with students via email or in person.
• Assist in setting up and grading the final lab exam.

Required profile

• General knowledge of immunology, microbiology and parasitology; preferably completed MIMM 413.
• Familiarity with key research methods such as PCR, ELISA, Western blotting and light microscopy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; French proficiency is desirable.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
