Tax Manager

About the role

Welch LLP is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its Ottawa office. The role involves reviewing tax filings, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations, and delivering strategic tax planning advice to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Review corporate, trust, partnership and personal tax returns and related elections.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering technical development.
• Participate in income tax planning and consulting, acting as a trusted business advisor.
• Identify technical issues, develop solutions, and involve appropriate firm personnel.
• Oversee preparation of voluntary disclosures for corporate tax matters.
• Conduct tax research, provide technical advice, and stay current on tax developments.
• Deliver internal training sessions on technical tax topics.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience with a focus on Canadian tax.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• CPA designation obtained or in progress.

Required skills

• Proficiency with TaxPrep software.
• Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
