Tax Manager

About the role

The Tax Manager will lead the mock and year‑end distribution review process for investment funds, acting as the primary liaison between fund administrators, external tax advisors, and internal wealth‑management partners. This role provides high visibility across the organization and contributes to tax compliance, audit support, and policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mock and year‑end distribution reviews, coordinating with fund administrators and external tax advisors.
• Review and file T3 tax returns and related forms prepared by external advisors.
• Handle HST returns, PFIC factors, and foreign tax compliance.
• Maintain audit trails of tax issues, ensure resolution, and review corporate actions for proper tax treatment.
• Collaborate with external auditors on year‑end and interim audits from a tax perspective.
• Respond to tax inquiries from internal partners and support tax‑related disclosures in prospectuses and offering documents.
• Assist in establishing policies, procedures, and controls to manage tax risk.
• Monitor legislative changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree in accounting, taxation, or related business administration.
• 5‑7 years of investment‑funds tax experience in a major accounting firm, asset manager, or fund administrator.
• Experience with mutual fund corporations, partnerships, trusts, regulated investment entities, and various security types.
• Proven ability to handle tax audits and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and relationship‑building skills.
• Self‑motivated with a focus on improving tax processes.
