Supervisor, Quality Assurance Inspection

About the role

The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission is seeking a Supervisor of Quality Assurance Inspection to lead a team of inspectors responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and compliant inspections of locomotives, freight and passenger equipment. This role oversees internal and external projects, coordinates with customers and guarantees adherence to AAR, Transport Canada and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, coach and develop a team of QA inspectors while maintaining a safe work environment and complying with collective agreements.
• Plan, prioritize and schedule inspections across car shops, diesel shops, paint shops and other facilities for both internal and external customers.
• Ensure all inspection work meets AAR, Transport Canada and other regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders and act as first point of contact for inspector concerns.
• Review customer scopes of work, develop Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and propose updates to procedures, work instructions and forms.
• Support equipment and gauge calibration processes and implement incoming inspection criteria.
• Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, including documentation and audit execution.
• Monitor training records, forecast future training needs and ensure staff qualifications remain current.

Required profile

• Experience supervising QA inspection teams in a transportation or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of AAR standards and Transport Canada regulations.
• Ability to develop and interpret Inspection Test Plans and related documentation.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
