Supervisor, Fund Accounting - Private Markets

About the role

MUFG Investor Services, which provides asset servicing solutions to the global investment management industry, is hiring a Supervisor, Fund Accounting, Private Markets in Halifax. The role oversees fund administration services for private market clients, with a focus on private equity structures, and supervises associate-level staff. It is listed as a hybrid position.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general ledgers and supporting schedules for assigned private equity funds in Investran, guiding associates.
• Lead quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS, US GAAP or ASPE, reviewing and mentoring for accuracy.
• Guide capital activity calculations and notices, including capital calls and distributions, and direct NAV calculations, investor reporting and management and carried interest computations.
• Coordinate property-level data, valuations and performance metrics for fund-level consolidation.
• Supervise reconciliation of bank accounts, intercompany balances and investment transactions.
• Take a leadership role in annual audit and tax processes, working with auditors, tax advisors and clients.
• Champion process improvement and system enhancements in Investran and related tools.
• Mentor junior and senior associates and maintain close communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred or in progress.
• 4-6 years of experience in fund administration or audit.
• Strong understanding of private equity structures.
• Experience reviewing the work of other accountants and supporting junior team members.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Investran or other accounting software.
• Ability to review the work of accountants and mentor team members.
