Store Designer

About the role

The Store Designer will create conceptual layouts and detailed construction drawings for a variety of MTY brands. Work will span traditional street‑front locations, food courts, kiosks, hospitals, universities and combo concepts, ensuring each design meets brand standards and landlord criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Review site or base‑building plans to assess design suitability for each brand.
• Produce sketches and drawings for space planning, exterior elevations, and signage placement.
• Present conceptual and schematic ideas to develop preliminary designs.
• Coordinate project requirements with landlord design criteria and brand leaders.
• Work with engineers to generate permit and construction drawings.
• Create working drawings that uphold company design standards.
• Communicate with general contractors to address site condition variances.
• Determine equipment layouts and compile addendums as needed.
• Review and approve shop drawings from vendors (millwork, signage, menu boards, walk‑in units, graphics).
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Construction, Operations, Marketing, and Building Standards.
• Track project flow and ensure timelines set by Construction are met.

Required profile

• Highly organized with the ability to manage changing timelines.
• Strong prioritization skills to focus on projects with the greatest deadline impact.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities across brand, engineering, and construction teams.
• Detail‑oriented problem‑solver capable of addressing design challenges.
