Statistical Analyst

About the role

The University of British Columbia Centre for Disease Control is hiring a Statistical Analyst to support a genomics research project on highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses. The role involves managing large datasets, performing statistical analyses, and creating visualization dashboards for a cloud‑powered surveillance platform.

Key responsibilities

• Optimize and maintain laboratory and epidemiological datasets.
• Contribute to study design and perform statistical analyses.
• Develop and maintain data‑visualization dashboards for HPAIV surveillance.
• Write scripts to validate and quality‑assure data integration workflows.
• Clean and prepare data for analysis and monitor dashboard performance.
• Liaise with internal and external project teams, draft manuscripts, and report to funders.

Required profile

• Experience working with large, multi‑source health data sets.
• Ability to collaborate with microbiologists, epidemiologists, veterinarians, and other scientists.
• Strong communication skills for reporting and manuscript preparation.
