Staff Accountant

About the role

Suger is a fast‑growing Series A SaaS company that helps B2B firms sell through cloud marketplaces. We need a Staff Accountant to bring structure, ownership, and scalability to our accounting operations across the US and Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, expense management, and month‑end close.
• Own invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and cash tracking.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate payroll‑related accounting and employee reimbursements.
• Partner with external accountants on taxes, audits, and compliance filings.
• Improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and operational processes.
• Assist with procurement, software/vendor tracking, and operational finance projects.
• Help build scalable finance processes as the company grows.

Required profile

• 4+ years of accounting experience in a software or SaaS environment.
• Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting and month‑end close.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced startup.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Experience supporting Canadian and/or US entities is a plus.
• CPA designation (or in progress) and startup experience are advantageous.
