Solution Architect – Data

About the role

The Solution Architect, Data will lead the design, development, and evolution of WestJet’s data architecture. Working closely with digital teams and business stakeholders, you will ensure that data flows securely and efficiently from operational systems to analytical stores, supporting both day‑to‑day operations and strategic insights.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a stable, viable data architecture across multiple projects and initiatives.
• Ensure consistency of design and adherence to standards for data platforms, frameworks, and patterns.
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear architectural plans and long‑term goals.
• Provide enterprise‑wide guidance on data frameworks, platforms, and information flow.
• Act as a thought leader and external “go‑to” expert on data architecture.
• Mentor colleagues, share technical knowledge, and build internal networks among digital and architecture teams.
• Anticipate business needs, secure resources, and lead change initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Extensive experience designing and governing enterprise data architectures.
• Proven ability to influence strategy and advise senior management.
• Strong analytical mindset with a track record of delivering pragmatic, creative solutions.
