Software Engineer I

About the role

TD’s Technology Solutions team in Toronto is looking for a Software Engineer I to join its engineering group. In this role you will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of software solutions that support business needs while adhering to architectural standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new solutions for engineering programs and projects within the assigned area.
• Design and implement new features, performing unit and component testing aligned with business needs and architecture standards.
• Support business enquiries and activities through small enhancements, break/fix implementations, and source‑code changes; may conduct peer code reviews.
• Collaborate with technology partners to ensure configurations and custom components meet performance goals.
• Analyze technical requirements, provide pragmatic engineering solutions, and contribute to coding/story estimates.
• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure solutions meet technical direction, performance, time‑to‑market, and innovation objectives.
• Monitor product lifecycles, ensuring specifications support business objectives and undertaking re‑development when required.
• Document and verify system components, infrastructure, security, integration, and architecture designs associated with programs or projects.
• Participate in quality management reviews of designs, prototypes, and requirement work products.
• Create and maintain high‑quality, defect‑free code; support testing cycles, post‑production deployment, and peer‑code reviews.
• Provide technical expertise during incident management, analyze reports, assess impact, and facilitate communication throughout resolution.
• Identify and recommend development/testing tools and solutions to support project objectives.
• Assist in developing and maintaining processes to prevent issues and participate in problem‑deterrence activities.
