Software Engineer – GovTech (Early‑career)

About the role

Lyft’s GovTech team is building innovative features that enable the company to enter new markets while meeting local regulatory requirements. We are looking for an early‑career Software Engineer who is eager to own projects from concept to production and collaborate across product, design, data science, and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Help define roadmap and architecture based on technology trends and customer needs.
• Write well‑crafted, well‑tested, maintainable code and contribute to large‑scale projects.
• Integrate with external partners and unblock cross‑functional dependencies.
• Participate in code reviews, share knowledge through brown‑bag sessions and tech talks.
• Document designs and contribute to the evolution of team‑owned components.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive projects to completion.
• Effective communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented programming.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• Working knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases.
• Front‑end development experience.
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) – nice to have.
• Exposure to machine learning, LLM applications and AI tools – nice to have.
