Site Supervisor – Railway Car Refurbishment

About the role

We are looking for a Site Supervisor to oversee the refurbishment of railway passenger cars for SYSTRA Canada. The role involves ensuring that all installation work performed by contractors meets the required standards and project schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Validate contractor installations against drawings, specifications and internal procedures.
• Inspect workmanship quality, document non‑conformities and drive corrective actions.
• Photograph key stages, record observations and produce timely progress reports.
• Compare actual progress with the project schedule and flag variances with recommended actions.
• Control the use of correct drawing revisions and specifications on the shop floor.
• Perform on‑site measurements of railcar systems and components.
• Generate and update installation procedures in collaboration with SYSTRA’s engineering team.
• Maintain company equipment, report breakdowns and manage material inventories.
• Conduct First Article Inspections at suppliers and issue acceptance reports.

Required profile

• DEP or equivalent in construction, mechanics, electricity or civil engineering.
• 2–3 years of experience supervising similar technical work.
• Fluent in both French and English, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work effectively on‑site, lead teams and delegate tasks.

Required skills

• Interpretation of technical plans and drawings.
• Revision control and document traceability.
• Visual and dimensional inspection using calipers, gauges and other measuring tools.
• First Article Inspection (FAI) procedures.
• Use of digital site tools such as DMS/QMS, checklists and office suites.
