Sessional Lecturer – Social Inequality (SOC263H5F)

About the role

The Department of Sociology seeks a sessional lecturer to teach SOC263H5F: Social Inequality for the Fall 2026 term. This half‑course examines the causes and manifestations of social, political and economic inequalities in Canada and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prepare and deliver lecture content for Tuesdays 3‑5 pm.
• Develop, administer and grade assignments, tests and examinations.
• Calculate and submit final grades in accordance with university policies.
• Hold regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
• Supervise and coordinate teaching assistants assigned to the course.
• Order and manage required readings and course materials.

Required profile

• PhD in Sociology or an equivalent discipline, demonstrated by refereed publications.
• Strong academic record and prior experience teaching a comparable undergraduate course.
• Evidence of teaching excellence in the subject matter.
