Sessional Lecturer – Quantitative Analysis of Social Data

About the role

The University of Toronto is seeking a sessional lecturer to teach SOC222H5S, Quantitative Analysis of Social Data. This half‑term position runs from January 1 to April 30, 2027 and involves delivering lectures on Tuesdays from 1‑3 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prepare, and deliver course content covering data tables, graphs, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and population inference.
• Develop, administer, and grade assignments, tests, and exams.
• Calculate and submit final grades and maintain accurate records.
• Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
• Supervise teaching assistants assigned to the course.
• Order and manage required reading materials.

Required profile

• PhD in Sociology or an equivalent discipline, demonstrated by refereed or published research.
• Strong academic record and prior experience teaching a similar quantitative sociology course.
• Evidence of teaching excellence in the subject matter.
