Sessional Lecturer – Puzzles and Paradoxes (Philosophy)

About the role

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a sessional lecturer to teach the Fall 2026 course "Puzzles and Paradoxes." The course explores classic philosophical puzzles and paradoxes and their impact on critical thinking and inquiry.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver in‑person lectures on Mondays (11:00 AM‑12:00 PM) and Wednesdays (3:00‑5:00 PM).
• Design and prepare course materials, including readings, assignments, and assessments.
• Facilitate class discussions and guide students through problem‑solving exercises.
• Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain office hours and respond to student inquiries.

Required profile

• PhD in Philosophy (in‑hand) or equivalent terminal degree.
• Prior experience teaching philosophy at the university level, preferably at the University of Toronto.
• Demonstrated expertise in puzzles, paradoxes, and related philosophical topics.
• Record of scholarly research is considered an asset.
