Sessional Lecturer – First Language Acquisition (Fall 2026)

About the role

The University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a qualified Sessional Lecturer to teach the First Language Acquisition course (PLIC24H3F) in the Fall 2026 term. This part‑time academic appointment involves delivering a half‑course to approximately 60 undergraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lecture content covering children’s pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and underlying linguistic theories.
• Develop, administer, and grade assignments, exams, and other assessments.
• Maintain accurate grade records and submit final grades on schedule.
• Hold regular office hours to support student learning.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong academic record and evidence of professional promise.
• Prior experience teaching language acquisition, psycholinguistics, or comparable courses.

Required skills

• Expertise in first language acquisition theory and research.
• Ability to design curriculum and assessment materials.
• Effective communication and classroom management skills.
