Sessional Lecturer – Environmental Impact Assessment

About the role

The University of Toronto Scarborough seeks a Sessional Lecturer to teach the course EESC13H3 – Environmental Impact Assessment and Auditing. The position runs from September 1 to December 21, 2026, with weekly lectures on Mondays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver two‑hour lectures covering legislation, qualitative and quantitative assessment methods, and environmental auditing.
• Prepare teaching materials, case studies, and hands‑on exercises for approximately 120 undergraduate students.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and project work.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and adhere to university policies and schedules.

Required profile

• PhD or MSc in Environmental Science or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and communicate effectively with undergraduate students.
• Experience or strong interest in environmental risk assessment, auditing, and remediation.
• Preference for candidates with prior teaching experience in related subjects.

Required skills

• Knowledge of environmental legislation and certification systems.
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative impact assessment techniques.
• Ability to develop and deliver case‑study based learning.
