Sessional Lecturer – Creative Writing: Prose

About the role

We are seeking a sessional lecturer to teach the online course Creative Writing: Prose (ENG374H5F) for the University of Toronto Mississauga. The instructor will guide undergraduate students in experimenting with fiction and non‑fiction prose, including autobiography, biography, and narrative for emerging visual, digital, and interactive media.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver weekly online lectures (Monday 5‑7 pm) for the semester.
• Develop, administer, and grade assignments, tests and exams.
• Calculate and submit final grades and maintain accurate records.
• Hold regular virtual office hours for student support.
• Supervise any teaching assistants assigned to the course, if applicable.

Required profile

• MA or MFA in Creative Writing.
• Demonstrated ability to teach creative writing at the university level.
• Strong publication record as a creative writer.

Required skills

• Proficiency in online teaching platforms and course management systems.

• Salary rates in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement (e.g., SL1 – $19,994.95 per full course).
