Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Motion Planning

About the role

Waabi is building the brain that orchestrates decision‑making for autonomous trucks and robotaxis. As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer you will create motion‑planning software that enables safe, scalable self‑driving in complex traffic environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop motion planning software and algorithms that orchestrate decision‑making in dynamic, uncertain traffic scenarios.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers and research scientists using an AI‑first approach to enable safe self‑driving at scale.
• Participate in technical and architecture discussions, sharing ideas to build a reliable autonomy stack for autonomous vehicles.

Required profile

• MS/PhD or Bachelor degree with at least 4 years of industry experience in Computer Science, Robotics or related fields.
• Experience with planning and decision‑making approaches such as optimal control, optimization‑based methods, search techniques or probabilistic decision making.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities using linear algebra, geometry, statistics and probability.
• Ability to rapidly prototype and test new algorithms.
• Open‑minded, collaborative team player willing to help others and balance short‑term problems with long‑term goals.
