Senior Tax Analyst, Financial Reporting and Tax

About the role

The Senior Tax Analyst, Financial Reporting and Tax will lead tax-related activities for a portfolio of investment funds. Working closely with Fund Accounting, external tax advisors and auditors, the role requires independent research, analysis, and recommendations on complex tax issues.

Key responsibilities

• Review distribution calculations and allocation factors for all fund types, including complex structures.
• Collaborate with Fund Accounting and act as liaison with clients, external advisors, and auditors during distribution reviews.
• Attend external audit meetings and address tax‑related queries.
• Prepare and file Trust and Corporation income tax returns and HST returns accurately and on time.
• Research tax impacts of corporate actions and recommend appropriate treatments.
• Train and review work of junior Tax Analysts.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls.
• Maintain tax‑related security master data and ensure timely uploads.
• Draft responses to tax correspondence, reassessment notices, and audits.
• Support the Tax Manager with regulatory research and participate in automation projects.

Required profile

• University degree in Business or Accounting; working towards or holding a professional accounting designation.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian tax rules as they apply to investment funds.
• Fund Accounting experience within the investment fund industry.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage tight timelines with minimal supervision.

• Salary band between $70,000 and $110,000 CAD, based on experience, skills and internal equity.
