Senior Surveyor / Party Chief

About the role

IPaC is seeking Survey Party Chiefs to support ongoing projects across British Columbia. Reporting to the Survey Manager, the successful candidate performs field survey work in the construction, pipeline, oil and gas, land development and legal land surveying industries, using RTK GPS (Trimble), total stations and RTK UAV. The position is based in Kamloops.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and perform field survey work with the help of Survey Assistants
• Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field work, review and manage budgets, timelines, priorities and survey methodology
• Represent the company by liaising directly with client field representatives and landowners
• Prepare and communicate field notes, sketches, checklists and digital data for Project Managers, Land Surveyors and drafting personnel
• Train, guide and mentor Survey Assistants
• Help develop industry best practices, efficient field processes and the use of new technology
• Support the IPaC safety program

Required profile

• Graduate of a recognized post-secondary program in surveying and geomatics, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years as a Survey Party Chief preferred
• Valid driver's licence and clean driver's abstract; Canadian residency and right to work in BC
• Ability to deliver projects on time and budget, and to mentor junior staff

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and total stations
• Trimble equipment and software, and line locating, are an asset
• Pipeline construction survey experience and ATV/UTV/snowmobile experience are assets
• First Aid, H2S and safety orientation tickets are an asset
