Senior Student Ambassador

About the role

The Senior Student Ambassador supports McGill’s Welcome Centre by leading campus tours, assisting prospective students and their families, and representing the university as the first point of contact. Working under the immediate supervisor, the role combines public engagement, administrative support, and recruitment event assistance on a part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Host virtual and in‑person tours for the public, VIP guests, and prospective students, updating and delivering tour scripts.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate student ambassadors, ensuring consistent visitor experiences.
• Provide front‑desk assistance at the Welcome Centre, answering phones, responding to emails, and guiding visitors on programs, admissions, tuition, and campus life.
• Support recruitment events by setting up signage, managing kiosks, handling equipment, and entering data.
• Conduct research via social media, contribute to campaigns, and perform basic video or photo editing when needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a student ambassador or similar public‑facing role.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with an outgoing, customer‑service mindset.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing campus conditions.
• Active involvement in the McGill community (clubs, athletics, or other activities) is an asset.
• Experience with customer service and social media platforms is a plus.
