Senior Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Building Ontario Fund is looking for a full‑time Senior Procurement Specialist to lead end‑to‑end procurement activities, ensure compliance with government directives, and support the agency’s fiscal stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and manage procurement documents (RFPs, RFQs) and competitive processes from start to award.
• Evaluate bids, support contract award, and oversee contract execution.
• Onboard vendors, manage relationships and monitor performance against contract terms.
• Ensure all activities comply with the Ontario Public Service Procurement Directive and internal policies, identifying and mitigating risks.
• Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and program teams to align procurement strategies with operational needs.
• Provide guidance on corporate procurement policies and assist business areas with process issues.
• Prepare briefing notes, policy documentation, and Board approval materials.
• Conduct research and environmental scans to develop policy options.
• Develop communication strategies and stakeholder sessions for new or amended policies.
• Create and maintain dashboards and reports tracking spend, timelines, and performance metrics.
• Support continuous improvement of procurement frameworks and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Certification in public procurement (e.g., SCMP) preferred but not required.
• Minimum five years of experience in corporate or third‑party advisory procurement, including contract management, reporting, dashboard maintenance, and briefing senior management.
